Veteran-owned and operated, War Department Research began as a passion project dedicated to uncovering answers to the “Five W’s and How” of American military history. What started with visits to the National Archives, the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center, and other leading research institutions soon grew into a mission to make the nation’s military past more accessible and understandable. After serving in the National Guard as a staff ride instructor and program manager, Tim Lehotsky transitioned War Department Research into a full-time historical research enterprise. Our work now spans from providing historical and genealogical records to delivering school talks, battlefield instruction, and film support for clients across the public and private sectors.
